SUET is where we start. The fat from around the kidneys, rendered into tallow and whipped with organic jojoba oil. Rich moisture for face, hands, and body. Two ingredients. One source we can stand behind.

  • SUET vs TRIM. Know your tallow. A lot of tallow is rendered from trim: the mixed scraps left over from butchering. Ours is suet, the firm fat from around the kidneys. It renders clean, smells mild and whips up smooth.
  • Nothing added for scent. No added fragrance or essential oils.
  • Start small. This tallow-based moisturizer is richer than a water-based lotion.
01Beef suet tallow

Grass-fed & grass-finished.
The rich, buttery base.

02Organic jojoba oil

Cold-pressed.
Helps the formula spread smoothly.

What is suet tallow, and why not trim?

Tallow is rendered beef fat. Suet is the firm, white fat around the kidneys. Trim is the mix of scraps cut away during butchering, so its texture and smell can vary from batch to batch. A lot of tallow is made from trim. We only use suet from grass-fed and grass-finished cattle, because it renders clean, smells mild and whips smooth.

Can I use it on my face?

It is made for face and body, but every skin is different. Patch test first and begin with a small amount. Stop use if irritation occurs.

How much should I use?

Start with a small dab, warm it between your fingertips, and smooth a thin layer onto face or body. Give it a moment before adding more. If it feels too heavy, try less next time.

What does unscented mean?

No added fragrance or essential oils. The ingredients can still have their own natural scent; unscented does not mean odorless.

What's the full ingredient list?

Organic Tallow (grass-fed & grass-finished beef suet), Organic Cold-Pressed Jojoba Oil. Those are the two ingredients shown on our label.

What size is it, and how do I store it?

1.5 oz (42.5 g) of whipped tallow in a 2 oz amber glass jar. Keep the jar closed and store it cool, away from direct heat. Whipped texture may change with temperature.

Why is it firm sometimes?

It's a natural product. It firms up in cool temps and softens in warm. Warm a scoop between your fingers.

Anything to know before first use?

Patch test a small area first. For external use only. Stop use if irritation occurs. It is a moisturizer, not a medicine.

Why this jar?

SUET makes
the difference.

The word to look for is SUET. It tells you the cut of fat behind your tallow. We start there, specify grass-fed & grass-finished sourcing, and keep the finished formula to two ingredients.

01 / THE TALLOW

Suet. The good stuff.

Tallow is rendered beef fat, but not all beef fat is the same. A lot of tallow is made from trim, the mixed scraps left after butchering. Suet is the firm fat from around the kidneys. It renders clean, smells mild and whips up light and smooth. It's the only fat that goes in our jar.

02 / THE SOURCING

Grass-fed &
grass-finished.

Grass-fed describes the diet. Grass-finished tells you the cattle were not switched to grain for finishing. We choose both because knowing how the cattle were raised matters to us.

03 / THE FORMULA

Two ingredients.
Nothing to hide.

Beef suet tallow and organic cold-pressed jojoba oil. The whole list. No added water, fragrance, or essential oils.

Hunter, founder of Guts and Glory

Meet the founder

Hey, I'm Hunter.

Most days you'll find me out on my homestead in Colorado. Hands in the dirt, coffee in my cup, building something or fixing whatever I screwed up the day before. It's hard work, and that's what makes me feel alive.

I've dealt with Crohn's disease for years, and honestly, I got sick and tired of being sick and tired.

That experience changed how I look at damn near everything. Now I'm all in on health and wellness. The garden, cooking healthy food, working outside, learning to do things myself. That stuff is my passion.

That's what Guts & Glory is about. Guts is doing the hard stuff even when it'd be easier not to. The glory is the life you get out of it.

The ultimate test for our products is whether I'd want my own family to use them. Simple stuff, done the right way, that I'm proud to put my name on.

Get healthy. Stay healthy.
