What is suet tallow, and why not trim?
Tallow is rendered beef fat. Suet is the firm, white fat around the kidneys. Trim is the mix of scraps cut away during butchering, so its texture and smell can vary from batch to batch. A lot of tallow is made from trim. We only use suet from grass-fed and grass-finished cattle, because it renders clean, smells mild and whips smooth.
Can I use it on my face?
It is made for face and body, but every skin is different. Patch test first and begin with a small amount. Stop use if irritation occurs.
How much should I use?
Start with a small dab, warm it between your fingertips, and smooth a thin layer onto face or body. Give it a moment before adding more. If it feels too heavy, try less next time.
What does unscented mean?
No added fragrance or essential oils. The ingredients can still have their own natural scent; unscented does not mean odorless.
What's the full ingredient list?
Organic Tallow (grass-fed & grass-finished beef suet), Organic Cold-Pressed Jojoba Oil. Those are the two ingredients shown on our label.
What size is it, and how do I store it?
1.5 oz (42.5 g) of whipped tallow in a 2 oz amber glass jar. Keep the jar closed and store it cool, away from direct heat. Whipped texture may change with temperature.
Why is it firm sometimes?
It's a natural product. It firms up in cool temps and softens in warm. Warm a scoop between your fingers.
Anything to know before first use?
Patch test a small area first. For external use only. Stop use if irritation occurs. It is a moisturizer, not a medicine.
